Decatur Elite Custom Cabinets offers professional wood countertops and custom vanities in Decatur, AL with over 20 years of experience. We build butcher block, edge-grain, end-grain, and hardwood slab tops in maple, walnut, white oak, and cherry. Each one is made in the same shop as the frameless cabinets and vanities it sits on. A standard top is 1-1/2 inches thick and takes about two weeks to glue up, flatten, and finish.
We don't supply stone, quartz, marble, solid-surface, or laminate counters. If you want stone on top of our cabinets, your fabricator templates it after we install, and we'll send them our drawings ahead of time. Vanities work the same way: we build the box, and the top is either wood from our shop or stone from the fabricator you hire.

Wood Countertop and Vanity Options
Edge-Grain Butcher Block
Strips of hard maple or walnut glued on edge, so you see long, straight grain lines. It's the most stable butcher block we make and the one we recommend for perimeter counters. Sand it down in ten years and it looks new again.
End-Grain Butcher Block
Short blocks set grain-up in a checkerboard pattern. Knife marks close back up, which is why serious bakers and home cooks ask for it on an island or prep station. It takes more shop hours, so it costs more per square foot.
Hardwood Slab Tops
Wide face-grain boards in white oak, walnut, or cherry, matched for color and glued into one slab. This is the furniture look: an island top, a coffee bar, or a built-in desk where the grain is the whole point.
Custom Bathroom Vanities
Floating or floor-standing frameless vanities, single or double, built to your plumbing. Top them with a sealed white oak or teak top from us, or leave the top to your stone fabricator.
Wood Countertop Construction and Finishes

Wood Countertop Installation Process
Species and Finish
You handle real samples of maple, walnut, white oak, and cherry, oiled and varnished side by side. We pick the construction (edge-grain, end-grain, or slab) around how you cook.
Measured Off Our Cabinets
Because we built the boxes, we already know their exact run lengths and depths. We confirm wall conditions on site once the cabinets are set and mark the overhangs.
Shop Glue-Up
Boards are milled, glued, flattened, cut to size, and finished in our Decatur shop. Plan on one to two weeks from measure to install day.
Install and Care Talk
We clip the tops down, scribe them to the wall, and walk you through care before we leave. Your plumber reconnects the sink once the top is set.
Tops and Vanities Built With Your Cabinets
A wood top that comes out of the same shop as the cabinets under it fits the first time. We know where every end panel, dishwasher opening, and sink base sits before a board is glued. There's no waiting on a second company to come measure.
Wood isn't right for every counter, and we'll tell you so. It shines on islands, baking stations, coffee bars, and any spot where you want warmth under your hands. Next to a busy sink it needs a waterproof varnish or regular oiling. If you won't keep up with that, a fabricator's stone on the sink run and our walnut on the island is a combination we build for often.
Our vanities are frameless boxes with full-overlay doors and plywood construction, built around your drain and supply lines. We size them for the top you've chosen, whether that's our oak or a slab your fabricator cuts.
